Susanville Police Department Press Release on June 18, 2025
May 19th The Susanville Police Department were dispatched to Banner Lassen Medical Center’s Emergency room for a report of a stabbing victim currently in their facility. Upon arrival, Officers were notified the victim, who had been transported by private vehicle, has sustained life-threatening injuries and was in critical condition. Officers determined the primary crime scene was a resident on 1400 block of Fourth Street in the City of Susanville. The crime scene was immediately secured and processed. The vehicle used to transport the victim to the hospital was secured as evidence and processed by the Susanville Police Department.

During the investigation, officers were able to obtain surveillance footage of the area, Investigators determined there were two suspects, a male and female, involved in the stabbing who fled the scene in a vehicle after the altercation. The female suspect, identified as 51 year old Brenda Vazquez of Susanville , was located and taken into custody on May 23rd. The male suspect, identified as 42 year old Edwin Oliva of Susanville as located and taken into custody on June 11th.
Both suspects are currently in custody at the Lassen County Adult Detention Facility pending procession for Attempted Murder and residential Burglary.
