The body of a 16-year-old boy from Marysville was recovered from the Feather River on Saturday after he fell into a deep channel the previous evening. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on July 4, 2025, when the boy was with a group that had walked to a remote beach. Witnesses reported that he struggled before going under the water west of the Star Bend boat ramp.
Search efforts involved multiple agencies, including the Yuba County Sheriff’s Boat Unit, Technical Rescue Team, and local fire departments. The search was initially halted due to darkness on Friday but resumed on Saturday, leading to the recovery of the youth’s body around 3:30 p.m. The identity of the boy is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.
The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department emphasized the dangers posed by river channels, particularly in colder conditions and areas with strong undercurrents.
