The Lassen County law enforcement torch run will hit Riverside drive this Friday. The run is in support of the Special Olympics and the Lassen County Probation Department spearheaded the effort to bring this event to Susanville. Local law enforcement officers, including Sheriff Dean Growdon and Police Chief Ryan Cochran, will run the stretch from the Historical Courthouse down to the Probation department behind Wal-Mart. Sheriff Growdon said there will be no full road closures, yet you can expect minor closures as the runners make their way along the roadway. You can attend the opening ceremony at 7 am tomorrow morning at the steps of the Historic Courthouse in Uptown. You can also show support by donating to the event by visiting the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office or Probation Department’s Facebook page. Growdon also shared he hopes to see this run expand into other communities throughout Lassen in the years to come.
