The Surprise Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility that lies on the outskirts of Modoc county, has closed its doors to visitors. The facility is experiencing a rapid surge in Covid-19 cases with over half of the residents testing positive for the virus. Administrator of the facility Bill Bostic said positive residents are asymptomatic and comfortable and are being treated with monoclonal antibodies and are responding well. Across Modoc county COVID numbers are increasing with a total of 53 active cases reported by the Modoc county Public Health Department. The county is seeing a similar spike in cases as to that of this time last year.
Plumas county also continues to see positive cases, with public health reporting 18 new cases with a total of 89 active in the county. And Lassen county currently has 42 new cases and 26 active.
