The sheriff’s office says that on Tuesday around 3:30 PM, the department received a “Be On The Lookout” (BOLO) notification from the Nevada County Sheriff’s Dispatch. The notice was for two suspects fleeing a shooting that occurred just before midnight the day prior in Citrus Heights. With the help of The Truckee Police Department’s Flock Automated License Plate Reader camera, the suspect’s license plate was detected near Alder Creek Road and Hwy 89 in Truckee.

Sierra County Deputies were informed and quickly spotted the vehicle heading north on Hwy 89 in Sierraville. They conducted a felony car stop and apprehended both occupants without any trouble. Afterward, the Sierra County Deputies assisted Citrus Heights Police Detectives in transporting the suspects and impounding the vehicle.

Nineteen-year-old Anthony Murti and twenty-eight-year-old Richard Hernandez are being held in the Sacramento County jail facing multiple felony charges, including murder and accessory after the fact. Murti is being held without bail, while Hernandez is held on a $200,000 bail.

The Citrus Heights Police Department expressed their gratitude to the Sierra County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in locating and safely detaining both suspects in this case in coordination with the Detective unit. Investigations Lieutenant Wesley Hermans said, “While it is rare to make a homicide arrest within 24 hours, it is possible through strong investigative drive and perseverance, technology, and great allied agency law enforcement partnerships.”
