A suspect is in custody, and another is at large following two shootings in Susanville on Sunday.

The Susanville Police Department says the first incident occurred just before 5 am Sunday when officers responded to shots fired at The Frontier Inn on Main Street. They discovered a 48-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds. Rushed to an out-of-area hospital, the victim remains in critical condition. After a 36-hour investigation and following up on leads, the suspect was found and arrested in SParks by Sparks Police Officers. A spokesperson for the Frontier Inn said the victim and suspect were not tenants of the Inn but had walked onto the property, calling it an unfortunate incident for the business.

Later Sunday, around 7 pm, another report of shots fired led officers to the parking lot area of Burger King on Main Street, where they found a 36-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his lower body. The victim received help from restaurant patrons before medical units arrived. The suspect had fled the scene in a blue, 4-door vehicle heading West.

Investigators have confirmed that the two incidents were unrelated.

Despite the victims knowing their assailants, they did not cooperate with authorities. As the Susanville Police Department continues to review surveillance footage, the department urges anyone with information to come forward to aid in the investigation to locate the suspect in the Burger king Shooting.
