Susanville Fire Department takes its annual open house event to the Lassen Land and Trails Trust Rails to Trails Festival.
The department puts on the event each year to celebrate Fire Prevention Week. In past years the department has hosted the community at the firehouse with a free hot dog lunch and fun educational activities for the kids, including hose, carries, and fire escape demonstrations in the education trailer. Even COVID did not stop the department from reaching out to the community, and instead took the open house on the road throughout Susanville communities, bringing the fire truck into neighborhoods for all to learn .
This year you can find them at the Depot as the community celebrates one of its favorite events, and they’re still bringing the free hot dogs. You can get the whole family this Saturday, October 8th, from 10 to 3 to meet your local firefighters, see Fire equipment, and learn fire Safety.
