The Susanville Fire Department announces the return of their annual open house at the fire hall on Main Street in support of the National Fire Protection Association’s “Cooking Safety Starts with You” Campaign.
Statistics from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) reveal that cooking stands as the primary cause of home fires and home fire injuries, constituting half of all home fires in the United States.
On October 14th, the Susanville Fire Department welcomes you and your family to join the educational event focused on kitchen safety. The department offers these key preventive measures:
Always keep a close watch on your cooking.
Turning pot handles toward the back of the stove.
Keeping a lid nearby in case of a grease fire. Establish a kid and pet-free zone of at least 3 feet around the stove or grill.
The open house will begin at 10 am and continue until 2 pm on Saturday, October 14th.
