The Susanville City Council interviewed candidates for the city’s Public Safety Chief position during a closed-session special meeting Wednesday afternoon.

According to Dan Newton, the council provided direction to staff following the interviews but took no reportable action.

During its regular meeting later that evening, the council unanimously approved several items on the consent calendar, including minutes from the Feb. 18 meeting, vendor and payroll warrants, and monthly financial reports covering July 2025 through January 2026.

Councilmembers also unanimously approved a resolution authorizing an amendment to a professional services agreement with M-Group Consultants for planning consultation services.

In another action, the council approved an out-of-area agreement with the Lassen County Local Agency Formation Commission to allow the city to provide water and natural gas service to properties at 697–805 Prattville Road. Newton said the parcel is expected to be annexed into the city limits in the future.

The council also voted to continue the emergency declaration at Memorial Ball Park. Newton said design work is ongoing for new bleachers behind the backstop and other improvements, though the field remains available for local baseball games.

The council’s next regularly scheduled meeting is set for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 18
