As we approach the 4th of July festivities in Chester, we want to remind everyone that SR-36 (Main Street) in Chester will be closed on Thursday, July 4th from 8:45 to 9:45 am for the Fun Run and then again from 10:45 am to 1:00 pm for the parade. A detour will be set up at
Airport Road and Melissa Avenue for through traffic. Please plan accordingly.
Every year, we receive complaints about chairs being set up days before the parade that block sidewalks and crosswalks. Please understand that pedestrians, bicyclists, and those utilizing mobility devices need to be able to travel safely without unnecessary hazards. Chairs set up days before the parade that hinder sidewalk and crosswalk usage are subject to removal.
Please remember, Do Not Drink and Drive! – we will have extra officers patrolling for DUI enforcement. We look forward to a great 4th of July in Chester and celebrating with you!
