At today’s board meeting, the Lassen Supervisors will hear from the Plumas National Forest on post-fire recovery updates and from the State Department of Insurance on fire coverage for homeowners.
The supervisors have continued to advocate for a better relationship and communication between the Plumas National Forest after years of multiple fires crossing county lines. Beckwourth district ranger Mike Rahe has built that trust and communication over the last year making regular visits to keep the supervisors informed on efforts being made across first service lands.
The supervisors have also called on the California Dept of Insurance to gain a better understanding of the future of homeowner insurance as the insurance market has been rattled by the exit of major companies, with Farmers Insurance, one of the last in the county, offering to insure homes, making the announcement that the company will be limiting new policies in California.
These presentations are set for a 10 am discussion.
Meetings are open to the community and held at the supervisor chambers on Nevada Street in Susanville. The complete agenda can be found on the county’s website.
