The Lassen board is set to deliberate on the deferment of SB 43, a bill that marks the first expansion of conservatorship requirements in 50 years. The proposed changes include the inclusion of individuals with severe substance use disorder or co-occurring mental health disorders as gravely disabled. This modernization also involves amendments to existing law, impacting standards for evaluation, court-ordered evaluation, intensive treatment, and referrals beyond current practices in Lassen County.

The county’s behavioral health department has expressed the existing challenges within the current legal framework and the need for additional time to evaluate how to implement the new standards. This involves identifying staffing, training, county infrastructure, and resource requirements. The Board of Supervisors may consider approving the deferral of implementation to 2026 to facilitate this comprehensive evaluation.

LassenSupervisors will also address the retirement of Sheriff Dean Growdon and the proposed ordinance for the annual review of the sheriff department’s Military Equipment.

In Plumas County, supervisors will conduct a public hearing on a proposed ordinance to augment the Plumas County Code related to the Partnership Health Plan of California Commission.

Additionally, the board will be tasked with approving a non-budgeted $50,000 for employment-related investigations. Furthermore, they will consider authorizing the Office of Emergency Services to accept over $128,000 from an Emergency Management Performance Grant for the OES. This grant covers a portion of the program’s expenses and operations.

Lassen Supervisors will convene in Susanville on Tuesday, Dec 12th, at 9 am, while Plumas Supervisors will meet at the Quincy Courthouse at 10 am. Agendas for both meetings can be accessed on their respective county websites.
