Storms Damage Areas in Lassen Volcanic National Park

SHARE NOW

Winter storms have damaged hiking paths in the Lassen Volcanic Park this week. A portion of the sidewalk near Sulphur Works collapsed Friday evening. Although this park area is accessible to visitors, the park service says you must stay clear of the area south or downslope of the road, adding that not all hazards have been marked. You are asked to be aware of the risks of hiking through these areas.

Assessments by engineers and park management are underway and more information on the extent of damage will be made available once complete.
