Storm Damage Forces Closure of BLM Litchfield Wild Horse and Burro Corrals

Storm damage at the Bureau of Land Management Litchfield Wild Horse and Burro corrals has forced the closure of the corrals for the week.
The damage was sustained to the office lobby as part of the ceiling collapsed; the storm also created unsafe conditions in the animal adoption loading areas, preventing animal movement.

Emily Ryan, manager of the BLM Eagle Lake Field Office, assures that the conditions of the 5-acre pens “are not posing any danger or discomfort for the horses and burros,” as they are in rocky areas out of danger for deep mud. Ryan added that the water system is operational, and feeding schedules remain unchanged.

The entire facility will be closed to the public this week. The corrals will reopen for animal viewing when conditions improve.

If you have selected animals for adoption, you can complete your applications and adoption agreements via email. You will be able to pick up your animals when conditions improve.
