Stay Alive, Just Drive-CHP Brings Awareness to Distracted Drivers in the Month of April

Over 3100 deaths and over a quarter of a million injuries resulted from distracted driving collisions last year, according to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration. The California Highway Patrol reminds drivers that April is distracted driving awareness month to help reduce these staggering numbers.

The CHP office says distraction does not include texting on your phone; it could include eating and drinking, grooming, talking to others in your car, and fiddling with the radio or your GPS. Anything that can take your attention away from driving safely is extremely unsafe and deadly for you and every nearby driver, pedestrian, bicyclist, and worker.

The Just Drive campaign is funded by the National Highway and traffic safety administration.
