With favorable weather, scaling operations began on the SR70 slides that have had the highway closed to through traffic since January. Work started this weekend at the slide just outside of Belden to break up large boulders on the top of the slide. The route remains closed from the Greenville wye to Jarbo gap, with no estimated time of re-opening to one-way traffic control.
