Starting this morning at 7 am a full highway closure will be in place for State Route 70. Caltrans will complete culvert replacements through the Feather River Canyon at Opapee Creek following destructive debris slides from heavy downpours in June. The closure will be between Jarbo Gap and the Greenville Wye. If you are in the area, local access will be allowed from either side of the closure, but not to cross the location at Opapee Creek. Due to the sheer size of the replacement culverts and the narrow roadway, Caltrans felt a full closure was necessary as traffic could not pass safely while work was ongoing. The road is expected to reopen by September 13th at 7 am.
