Hunters and hikers can once again enjoy the private forest lands of Sierra Pacific Industries, after a closure enacted in July due to increased fire dangers. As of this weekend, SPI has re-opened its lands that span across Lake Shasta, Burney, and Quincy and south toward forests outside of Lake Tahoe and Sonora. SPI spokesperson says due to wetting rains over the last week the company is grateful for the improved conditions to reopen to recreation. Yet, Parts of the company’s lands remain closed through burn scar areas as well as areas with active logging operations, and for wildlife protection. Overnight camping, campfires, and smoking remain prohibited throughout SPI forests and conditions will continue to be monitored and updated as the season progresses.
