Speeding Sierra Pacific Industries logging truck crashes into the Feather River.

Around 830 yesterday morning, 44-year-old Andrew Abramenko of Redding was driving the SPI Peterbilt log truck down Main Street in Chester east of Willow Way. Abramenko was moving at nearly 50 mph through a 30 mph zone, and CHP says for unknown reasons, he allowed the truck to leave the roadway and landing into the North Fork of the Feather River. This caused a minor spill into the river; Fish and Wildlife were on the scene to assess the hazard.

Abramenko was transported to Seneca Hospital for minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
