The Sierra Nevada Conservancy Board awards funds for projects to the Sierra Buttes trail stewardship and the Mooretown Rancheria of Maidu Indians to recover from both the North Complex and Dixie Fires. To help boost recreation and tourism the Sierra Buttes Trail stewardship will receive nearly 260k dollars to build an 8 mile multi-use trail south or Portola called the Beckwourth Recreation Project. The Mooretown Rancheria of Maidu Indians of California received over 350k dollars to conduct a cultural-resource survey of the Feather Falls Scenic Area that during the North Complex lost trails, bridges, and all recreational facilities. Overall the Sierra Nevada Conservancy funded over 2.1 million in projects focused on restoring forest health and wildfire resiliency, as well as projects aimed at boosting recreation and tourism.
