Slow Down, Icy Roads Ahead

As temperatures drop to subfreezing levels overnight, Officers with the Susanville CHP warn drivers of potential Icy roads. Authorities advised yesterday afternoon that access to Eagle Lake from County Road A-1 was compromised when several vehicles spun out near the summit.

Officers say the vehicles could not navigate the shady side of the mountain where ice clung to the roadway, failing to thaw even late into the afternoon.

CHP Susanville asks that if you are considering heading to the lake or surrounding communities, take the 139 entrance to avoid the potential of spinning out.

Temperatures are expected to warm heading into Thanksgiving day, yet overnight lows will continue to remain well below freezing as the week progresses.
