WildBio Flourishing reports that community roller skate nights will continue this winter at the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds, offering an affordable, inclusive gathering space for youth, families and residents of all ages. The events are organized by WildBio Flourishing in partnership with Adventure Monkeys, Plumas County Public Health Agency, Central Plumas Recreation and Park District and Vibecraft Productions.
Skate nights take place in Serpilio Hall. Each event is divided into two sessions, beginning with an all-ages skate from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by a 15-and-over session from 8:30 to 11 p.m. Dates are scheduled throughout the winter season and are posted in advance on the Adventure Monkeys website.
The next skate night is set for Jan. 17, with DJ Mcburger and Willie Wonky performing at the 15-and-over session. Feb. 14 will feature Alfonso Mango and Terpsichore. March 14 is punk night, and in April, Kr3ture will be performing for the all-ages skate for $5 and then again at the 15-and-over skate.
Admission for the all-ages skate is $5, with quad skate rentals available for $2. The 15-and-over session costs $10, with skate rentals available for $5. Feather River College students with a valid student ID receive discounted admission. Socks are required for skate rentals, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Skates are available in nearly all sizes. Cash is preferred at the door.
In addition to skating, the events often include live music, live painting by local artists, aerial arts performances by the Silkspire crew and lounge areas for nonskaters. Public health staff and volunteers are present to support a safe, substance-free environment focused on positive youth engagement.
Organizers say the goal is to provide consistent, welcoming spaces where community members can gather, move their bodies and build connection.
