Sierra Pacific Industries Closes Lands to Public Amid Increased Wildfire Risks

As fire officials across the region brace for fire season, issuing burn bans and noting a drying fuel index nearing 90% by this weekend, Sierra Pacific Industries is taking the proactive approach of limiting access to its lands to mitigate the risks of sparking a wildfire.

Effective June 28th, all SPI forests in California will be closed to all public access.

SPI says these closures will remain in effect until further notice. While public roads crossing SPI forestlands will stay open, no walk-in access will be permitted.

SPI lands in Oregon and Washinton will remain open but are subject to the company’s recreation access policies.
