Sierra County Sheriff Warns of Phone Scam Impersonating Deputies

The Sierra County Sheriff’s Office has become aware of a scam involving phone calls impersonating our deputies.
Please be advised that we do not notify individuals by phone if they have a warrant for their arrest or if they have missed a court subpoena. We will never ask for personal information such as social security numbers or banking details without official documentation and verification.
While we do not know the full intent behind these calls, we urge the public to remain vigilant. Do not provide personal information over the phone to unknown sources. If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and contact the Sierra County Sheriff’s Office directly at (530)289-3700 to verify.
