Sierra County Emergency Sirens Undergoing Testing

If you hear emergency sirens in parts of Sierra County today, officials say there is no cause for alarm.
The Sierra County Sheriff’s Office will conduct testing of emergency siren systems in Sierra City, Downieville, and Alleghany between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Residents may hear high-low warning tones along with public address announcements during the testing period. Officials stress that this is only a test, and no action is required from the public.
County leaders say the testing is part of ongoing efforts to ensure emergency notification systems remain fully operational and ready for future emergencies.
