The Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship received a grant of 30,000 through the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative.
The grant will be used towards equipment purchase, including a QTAC Portable Fire Suppression unit and a Powered Wheelbarrow. The unit will be used for both providing water for trail work and trail fire suppression. The SBTS will include trail work maintenance for cutting brush, logging downed trees, and building and maintaining the armored creek. The grant will also help cover labor for two weeks for four crew members, dozer rental, and signs to go up for the Middle Fork Feather River camp area.
The last grant of 26,000 received helped stock a portable shed for trail days with tools and equipment.
Henry O’Donnell, the SBTS Trail Boss, stated: “This Equipment We can purchase will help boost our crews this season and impact how much we can accomplish on these two projects.”
