Sierra Army Depot Lieutenant Colonel Amy Cory appeared at Susanville’s Noon Rotary Club Wednesday afternoon.
Cory, who hails from Kansas City, Kansas, graduated from the College of the Ozarks in 2003 with a bachelor of science in Psychology and Criminal Justice. She was commissioned as a 2nd LT in the medical service corps, later transitioning to the Ordnance corps. Throughout her military career, Cory made deployments during operations Iraqi Freedom 1 and 4, as well as operation New Dawn in Kuwait and Kosovo Force 19. She came to The Sierra Army Depot in 2021 as the first woman to take command of the post in The Sierra Army Depot 43 year history. She has contributed to the depot’s mission to maintain and restore over 36,000 military vehicles, some even supporting the war in Ukraine.
This June, she will end her assignment at the depot and head to Fort McNair in the D.C. area for her next. Cory has enjoyed her time in Lassen County and plans to return to the area with her family.
