Seneca Healthcare District (SHD) was honored to host Assemblymember Heather Hadwick for a
tour of the coming Lake Almanor Community Hospital on Tuesday, November 18th. Her visit proved to be warm and engaging, highlighting the shared values of strength, spirit, and resilience within the Lake Almanor community; qualities that truly define rural communities like ours. Assemblywoman Hadwick met with Seneca Executives and leadership before touring
the construction site of the new Lake Almanor Community Hospital, a facility designed to bring
expanded, modern, and compassionate care to residents across the region. The visit offered an
opportunity to share the community’s vision for accessible rural healthcare and the progress being made toward a hospital that will serve local families for decades to come.
Seneca Healthcare District leaders expressed deep appreciation for Assemblymember Hadwick’s
visit, noting how important community partnerships are during a project of this scale.
“We are truly grateful for Assemblywoman Hadwick,” said Shawn McKenzie, CEO of SHD. “Her
willingness to spend time with our team and learn more about the hospital’s progress shows how deeply she understands disadvantaged communities. This new facility is for the people, and it’s encouraging to share that excitement with our elected leaders.”
The visit came just ahead of Assemblymember Hadwick’s community town hall on Tuesday evening, where local residents gathered to discuss regional needs, ask questions, and connect directly with their representative. The town hall, like the hospital visit, underscored the strong community bonds that define life in and around the Lake Almanor Basin.
Seneca Healthcare District remains committed to building a hospital that reflects the values of the community—warm, welcoming, and built on a foundation of trust.
About Seneca Healthcare District: SHD’s mission is to provide community members and visitors
