Seneca Healthcare District has announced the return of weekly MRI services at Seneca Hospital.
Officials say the service aims to provide essential diagnostic imaging to residents in the Lake Almanor Basin and nearby areas.
The renewed service comes from a partnership with four other rural hospitals in Plumas, Modoc, and Shasta Counties. This initiative, called the Multi-Entity Regional Critical Access Hospital Mobile MRI, will serve five critical access hospitals in Northern California, reaching over 20,000 community members.
“MRI is a vital diagnostic tool, especially in rural healthcare settings where access has historically been limited,” said Brady Haynes, Chief Operating Officer of Seneca Healthcare District. “We’re proud to bring this service back to our community and remain committed to expanding access to advanced medical care.”
The mobile unit will rotate weekly among the participating hospitals, ensuring consistent access to high-quality imaging services in remote areas. The five hospitals involved are working toward purchasing a dedicated mobile MRI unit in the future.
The investment aims to give the hospitals greater control over scheduling and service delivery, reduce long-term costs, and ensure dependable access to imaging services managed by rural healthcare providers.
