A second larger fire occurred burning directly next to the previous day’s transient camp fire along the Skyline bypass. Susanville Fire department responded along with other support engines from CCC, Susan River, and Cal-fire. The fire was quickly put out at around 100 by 200ft. The fire captain on duty said fires like these happen as the weather cools and small fires are started by those setting up camp in the area to keep warm but eventually get left unattended or abandoned. Areas where this remains a concern have been identified and all departments are ready to respond as necessary.
