A railroad crossing safety improvement project has been approved in Doyle.
The crossing on Hakstaff Road has been a point of concern for residents for some time as it lacks any warning signal for an approaching train. The only preventative measure in place is a single stop sign ahead of the two tracks. The project will include new paving, signing, striping, and installation of new track panels, crossing surfaces, signals, and gate arms.
County public works say the nearly 750,000 dollar project will be funded through the Caltrans railroad division, and the county and Union Pacific will complete the work. Work is expected to begin next year.
