A Reno woman incarcerated on an arrest warrant from Sierra County died Sunday evening at the Plumas County Correctional Center.
Correctional officers found 32-year-old Leana Conrady unresponsive in her cell just after 7 pm. Officers say Conrady used a bed sheet to hang herself.
Officers immediately removed the sheet and began life-saving efforts. Medical personnel arrived and continued those efforts, but Conrady was pronounced dead.
She was begin held at the Plumas county Jail pending court proceedings in Sierra county after being arrested in Siskiyou County on a Sierra County arrest warrant.
A joint investigation between the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office and the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office determined that Conrady took her own life. Foul play is not suspected.
