Reminder of Active Shooter Response Exercise Scheduled at Chester High School on October 1st

CHP and Law Enforcement wants to reminds the public of An Active Shooter Full Scale Exercise scheduled for this Wednesday, October 1st, will be centered at Chester Jr/Sr High School and is designed as a comprehensive test of local and neighboring law enforcement, emergency medical services, hospital and school staff responses to a severe threat.

The stated purpose is to test existing plans and ensure collaborative efficiency among all entities who will respond to an active shooter incident in the community.

The exercise will require massive coordination, involving not only school staff and volunteer students, but also Law enforcement, Emergency Medical Services (including helicopters and Fire Departments), the Seneca Healthcare District and the Chester airport.

The critical operational window for the full-scale exercise will be from 12:30p.m. until 5:00p.m. on Wednesday. During this time, Chester High School will be closed to the public, and no unauthorized personnel will be permitted within the designated boundaries, as this would cause a disruption and safety issues.

The public is specifically advised to stay away from the high school during the exercise hours.

Community members should anticipate a noticeable increase in activity not only at Chester Jr/Sr High School but also around the Seneca Healthcare District and the Chester airport due to the full scope of the emergency response simulation.

The exercise is scheduled to conclude at 5:00p.m.
