The Modoc County Sheriff’s Office has identified the person whose skeletal remains were found nearly a year ago. They’ve been identified as Nicholas Patterson. He was reported missing in January 2020. Patterson was 26 years old when he disappeared.
The remains were found in the Lookout area of Modoc County on May 24, 2024. On July 25, 2024, authorities notified Patterson’s family that the remains belonged to Nicholas. Due to the ongoing investigation, the family chose not to release the information at the time.
Patterson was known to frequent the Burney area of Shasta County, the Big Valley area of Lassen County, and the Lookout area of Modoc County. If you know anything about Patterson’s disappearance or death, contact the Modoc County Sheriff’s Office. at (530) 233-4416.
