Sacramento’s Federal Grand Jury has charged Bradley Reger, the 67-year-old Susanville native, with multiple crimes involving sexual abuse of minors.
A press conference held yesterday with U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert, Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent in Charge Tatum King, FBI Special Agent in Charge Sean Ragan, and Kathleen Nicholls, Chief of the Department of Consumer Affairs Division of Investigation, announcing the charges brought against Reger: engaging in illicit sexual activity abroad, transportation of a minor with the intent to engage in such activity, and coercion and enticement.
Three victims have already come forward to provide their testimony. Still, investigators believe there may be hundreds more due to Reger’s access to minors through his involvement in youth camps, counseling, and coaching positions since 1986.
Reger, who obtained a license as a nurse practitioner with the CA state board in 2003, used his medical background to subject his victims to sexual abuse under the guise of conducting “mole checks” at his offices in Susanville. Since the launch of a victim reporting website on July 7th by the FBI and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) to identify those harmed by Reger, they have received over 40 initial accounts of abuse.
The FBI and HSI are actively seeking potential victims of Reger and urge anyone in the U.S. and abroad to come forward and complete the online form available at www.fbi.gov/RegerVictims or call the Sacramento field office at 916-746-7000.
If convicted, Reger faces severe penalties, including up to 30 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 for engaging in illicit sexual conduct abroad, life imprisonment and a $250,000 fine for transportation with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, and up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for coercion and enticement.
Reger is scheduled to appear in court today at 2 pm and will remain in custody as investigations continue. Special Agent Sean Ragan of the FBI Sacramento Field Office expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, the Church of the Nazarene, and the California Department of Consumer Affairs in aiding the investigation and ensuring the safety and security of the community.
