The ongoing Rainbow Gathering, deemed an Unauthorized Group Use Incident, continues to evolve in the Plumas National Forest. As of July 1, 2024, attendance at the new site, 12 miles from Beckwourth in the Plumas National Forest, is estimated at 853 individuals, with approximately 80 attendees remaining at the initial location, 5 miles North of Antelope Lake.
The Forest Service says they are currently in discussions with the Rainbow Family of Living Light regarding the application for a special use permit for noncommercial group use. Until this permit is signed, the gathering remains unauthorized.
The Forest Service will provide updates as frequently as possible to inform the community about the situation.
