A Quincy woman is in critical condition after being ejected when her vehicle lost control due to icy roads.

Yesterday morning the California Highway Patrol said 35-year-old Molly Baker of Quincy was driving her Ford Ranger on Highway 70, west of Squirrel Creek Road, at a speed of around 45 to 55 mph through a left curve in the road. Conditions were icy that morning, and due to her speed through the turn, the Ranger’s tires lost traction, causing the vehicle to slide across the lanes before colliding with a snow berm and up the embankment behind it, resulting in the truck overturning onto its right side.

The Ranger rolled back down the embankment toward Highway 70. Baker was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected from the shattered driver’s door window onto the roadway shoulder, causing significant injuries to her head. Her current condition is unknown.
