The Quincy Friends of the Plumas County Library group announced that it is donating the entire proceeds of its November book sale to three local community assistance organizations: the Community Assistance Network, the Plumas Crisis Intervention and Resource Center, and the Indian Valley Food Bank.
The funds, totaling $1,350, were raised entirely through the community purchasing donated books and media. Organizers say the money will be split equally, with $450 going to each of the three organizations.
According to Bev McColm, president of the Quincy Friends, “The goal of all our book sales is to support our county’s library, but this year we wanted the sale’s impact to be even greater. By dedicating the funds to three of our local assistance organizations, we are spreading our support of our community even further. Every person who bought a book can take pride in knowing they’ve also helped a neighbor.”
The three organizations were selected for their broad reach and commitment to supporting people in Plumas County. Organizers point out that the donation comes at a crucial time as food banks and other charitable organizations are currently facing huge demands that will continue to increase as the holiday season draws closer.
