Lassen County Sheriffs Office warns the community not to fall for the latest fraudulent scam.

The Sheriffs Office has received calls from community members reporting deputies contacting them for payments on outstanding warrants. A caller would contact you identifying themselves as a Lassen County Sheriffs Deputy using a name of a former local deputy. The deputy will solicit payment claiming to be an outstanding warrant.

They will use a number that looks like it originates from the Sheriffs Office. The Lassen County Sheriffs Office reminds the community that they do not take payments for fines through credit or gift cards nor make collection calls.

These calls are fraudulent therefore, do not become a victim and make a payment.
