This week begins a series of public hearings on forming the new Beckwourth Peak Fire Protection District.
The new district will consolidate fire protection, emergency medical, and rescue services into one regional district for eastern Plumas county. The result will be streamlined, and more dependable revenue for these support services, a challenge the current protection districts have faced for years.
The Beckwourth and Sierra Valley fire protection districts, along with the response from Gold Mountain CSD and the City of Portola, will be dissolved and transferred to the new district along with all equipment.
The consolidation will also mean you will have to vote on a new special tax, and a property tax will also need to be satisfied with the county and LAFCo.
