Gas prices are on the rise again, and AAA contributed to the uptick in the arrival of spring.
Gas prices nationwide have risen by 11 cents per gallon since last week, reaching an average of $3.52 per gallon.
Andrew Gross, spokesperson for AAA, compares gas prices to seasonal temperatures, noting that they typically rise with the onset of spring. The current national average surpasses prices from a year ago, a trend not seen since late December. Recent data from the Energy Information Administration reveals a slight decrease in gas demand and a drop in total domestic gasoline stocks. Despite lower demand, rising oil prices have driven pump prices higher. The current national average of $3.52 per gallon is 25 cents higher than a month ago and nine cents higher than a year ago.
California has earned the number one spot on the nation’s top 10 most expensive markets: California’s gallon of gas averaged back near the 5-dollar mark.
Yet, for the state’s most Northeastern corner, including Lassen, Modoc, and Plumas counties, gas retail prices remain among the lowest in the state.
