There is no need for alarm as smoke will be visible from continued fall-prescribed burn operations throughout Plumas, Lassen, and Modoc counties.

Today, Plumas National Forest firefighters plan to start the project by 9:30 a.m. and burn about 70 acres on the Beckwourth ranger district in the Lake Basin area.
The piles are located between Elwell Lodge and Gold Lake Lodge.
Smoke will be visible to the south of Graeagle, but the forest service says smoke impacts are expected to be minimal to the surrounding communities and the Gold Lake Highway.
Firefighters will be monitoring conditions throughout operations.

In Lassen, you can expect to see smoke in Janesville from a planned ag burn in partnership with Cal FIRE.
This operation will begin on Sunday, October 29th through Sunday, November 5th, treating about 60 acres on the Somerville property between Schaffer Lane and Sears Road.
Operations continue in the Willow Creek Wildlife Refuge until next Tuesday, the 31st. Smoke will be visible to the north of Highway 139 above Susanville. A total of 735 acres are being treated under this ag burn.

To the North in Modoc County, smoke is expected to travel to the south and east from several ongoing projects in the Tionesta area. These prescribed burns aim to treat over 4,700 acres through this week.
Forest officials say smoke may be seen for up to 7 days after the burn, impacting the Tionesta area, highway 139, and the Lava Beds National Park.
