The Plumas-Sierra Political Coalition announces it is hosting a town hall meeting for state Sen. Mike McGuire on Wednesday, Jan. 28, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Quincy Vets’ Hall, 274 Lawrence St.

McGuire is currently running for Congress to represent California’s newly formed 1st Congressional District, but he has had a long career in public service. He began serving in elected office in 1998 when he became the youngest person ever elected to the Healdsburg School Board.

In 2004, he was elected to Healdsburg City Council, eventually becoming the city’s youngest mayor. In 2010, McGuire was elected to be a member of the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors. Then in 2014 he was elected as the senator for the state’s 2nd Senate District.

McGuire served as majority leader of the California Senate from 2022 to 2024 and became president pro tempore of the State Senate in 2024, the first rural senator to be elected pro tem in 100 years.

Members of the public are invited to attend this town hall meeting to learn more about McGuire’s experience, as well as his goals for representing constituents in the 1st Congressional District.
