The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office has issued a recent update regarding the ongoing investigation into the Portola Burglary that transpired last week. According to Information Officer Deputy Peay, strides have been made in the case.
Deputy Peay commended the vigilance and commitment displayed by the community, stating, “[the department] received several tips and leads that pointed [deputies] in the direction of a person of interest, Richard Lebert of Chester.”
In response to these leads, law enforcement officials initiated a thorough investigation. Deputies assessed physical characteristics and accumulated evidence to evaluate the potential involvement of Richard Lebert.
However, after a comprehensive evaluation involving “careful consideration of various factors, including visible tattoos that did not match the [man] seen in the photograph,” the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office has officially excluded Richard Lebert from the list of suspects pertaining to the Portola Burglary.
Deputy Peay underscored the department’s commitment adding that the sheriff’s office “will remain committed to solving this case and ensuring the safety of [the] community,”
