Plumas NF Investigates Human-Caused Fire

The Plumas National Forest is investigating a Human Caused Grass fire that sparked on the 4th of July holiday. The Fire was reported around 1 pm near Wyandotte Campground outside LaPorte. The forest service says fuel reduction efforts in this area over the last week helped fire crews quickly contain the flames.

A bucket brigade from nearby campers also assisted in those efforts. Feather River District Fire Management Officer James Lico says the incident is an example of how quickly fuels are drying out in the forest.

The forest service warns fire danger is rapidly increasing, reminding you that human-caused fires can be prevented by adequately ensuring your campfires are dead out and cold before being left unattended, securing trailer chains, and equipment and vehicle spark arresters are working correctly.
