Plumas National Forest says Little Grass Valley Reservoir campgrounds remain closed with only tentative dates to re-open.
Firefighters are working in the area to remove hazardous trees, and recreation staff are working to prepare the campgrounds to have potable water and clean restroom facilities.
Feather River District Fire Management Officer James Lico says, “With the July Fourth weekend coming up, [the forest service is] cautiously optimistic that…sites on the peninsula will be cleared to open by this Friday, yet Black Rock, Horse Camp, Running Deer, Red Feather, and Little Beaver campgrounds are not expected to open within the next week.
Though if you plan to visit, you should expect sudden cancellations due to the continued fuel reduction efforts in the area.
You are encouraged to enjoy a day trip as Lico adds, “Conditions on the lake are great, and fishing should be good,” again a reminder the boat launch at Black Rock is open, but access may be closed anytime.
