Plumas County Search And Rescue was dispatched to Antelope Lake, Eagle Point, for a medical aid involving an unresponsive individual reported to be breathing.
The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Forest Service, CareFlight ground personnel, and a CareFlight helicopter were also dispatched to the scene. While en route, updated information indicated the individual was near the water’s edge, appeared hypothermic, and remained unresponsive.
Upon arrival, first responders had already loaded the patient into a patrol vehicle and transported the individual to the awaiting helicopter. PCSAR personnel assisted with loading the patient into the aircraft before clearing the scene.
We thank the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Forest Service, and CareFlight for their continued partnership and coordinated response.
As temperatures remain low, mountain lakes continue to present cold water hazards. Cold water exposure can quickly lead to hypothermia. Please use caution when recreating near or on the water.
