Plumas County Residents Warned About Fraudulent Undersheriff Phone Scam

SCAM ALERT – FRAUDULENT CALLS POSING AS UNDERSHERIFF

Plumas County residents are being targeted by a phone scam where callers falsely identify as Undersheriff Chad Hermann, claiming that there is a warrant for the recipient’s arrest and demanding payment to resolve it.

This is a SCAM. One resident has already fallen victim to this fraud.

Please remember:

The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call you to inform you of a warrant.

We will NEVER ask for payment over the phone, by gift card, wire transfer, or any other means.

If you receive one of these calls, hang up immediately and do not provide any personal or financial information.
