As the region enters wildfire season and the recent arrival of Tropical Storm Hilary bringing potentially damaging rains, Plumas County officials are sending out a reminder that the county has an upgraded and rapid emergency notification service. The new system, named GEM (Genasys Emergency Management), is designed to provide timely alerts during emergencies to help you stay well-informed and prepared.

In urgent situations, the GEM service will send notifications promptly, allowing you to take necessary actions quickly. To be part of this emergency network, you are encouraged to register by visiting the county‘s website. plumascounty.us/2163/Genasys-Emergency-Alert-System.

Once you are signed up, you will automatically become part of the emergency call list, ensuring you receive vital information during critical times. It’s essential to note that if you were previously enrolled in the Code Red system, a new account will need to be created through GEM.
