Plumas County Public Works announces that it is collaborating with Feather River Disposal to host a free household hazardous waste drop-off event Saturday, June 7.
Between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., residents of Plumas County are encouraged to bring their batteries, paint, pesticides and other household hazardous waste to the Chester Transfer Station at 3 New Chester Dump Road. This event accepts household hazardous waste only.
Accepted items include:
- Acetone
- Alcohols
- Ammonia
- Antifreeze
- Barbecue and lighter fluid
- Batteries
- Bleach
- Brake fluid
- Cesspool cleaner
- Chlorine
- Drain cleaner
- Dyes
- Fertilizers
- Gasoline
- Insecticides
- Oils
- Paint thinner and stripper
- Paint and wood stain
- Poison
- Transmission fluid
- Tree root and stump killer
- Used oil filters
- Weed killer
- Window cleaner
- Windshield wiper fluid
- Wood preservative
The following items are not accepted:
- Gas cylinders
- Medical waste
- Radioactive or explosive materials
